If you’re in the market for a new toilet, you’ve likely searched far and wide for a great looking one. During your search, you may have come across Mansfield toilets and wondered “are they good toilets”.
Suffice to say, there aren’t a lot of toilet companies. Mansfield has been around since 1929 so they’re a stalwart in the plumbing industry and have a long successful history manufacturing toilets.
Mansfield offers plenty of models to choose from. The options range from elongated, round, 1-piece, 2-piece, dual flush, single flush, modern, and traditional. In addition, you can choose from various “rough-in” sizes.
In this article, I’ll share a little more about the company, where they manufacture their product, their warranty and a few great models to choose from.
A Little More About The Mansfield Company
As I mentioned above, Mansfield has been around for almost 100 years. The company is called “Mansfield Plumbing Products” (MPP) and they focus on toilets. Whether it’s bowls, tanks, fixtures, or fittings, they do it all when it comes to your commode.
Their manufacturing is done at 3 main American plants in Perrysville, Ohio, Big Prairie, Ohio, and Henderson Texas and employs 600 people (that’s a big operation) Most of their products are made in the USA, where they offer toilets and fittings for households and commercial use.
Over the last two decades, Mansfield has created over 100 new products that focus on affordable and stylish options for the bathroom.
All things considered, Mansfield is an American company, however, you might be surprised to learn that their parent company is from Colombia. That’s right, South America!
Corona is the name of the parent company and it’s a vast, multinational company that overseas 19 manufacturing plants worldwide, with a distribution office in China and an electrical insulation company in the USA. Needless-to-say, Corona is a massive worldwide company and they’ve allowed Mansfield to thrive as an American based manufacturing company.
Are Mansfield Toilets Good – My Take
There are a few different things I look for in a good toilet. I’ll list them below:
- Price
- Warranty
- Options/Models
- Made In America
The price of your new toilet is extremely important, right? Once you begin your search you’ll realize that most toilets are run from anywhere to $250-500. You can find cheaper options but there aren’t many (check out my article on the best budget toilets).
Mansfield toilets aren’t cheap but they are competitively priced. On the cheaper end, Mansfield toilets are about $250. Dual flush toilets will cost around $300, and modern style 1-piece toilets are around $500. These prices are similar to other companies in the industry.
The Mansfield warranty is also pretty good. They offer a lifetime limited warranty on their toilets but this lifetime warranty refers to defects on china.
There is a one-year warranty on the tank trim and most single flush toilets have a 5-year limited warranty on the tank trim.
As far as options and models go, Mansfield has increased their offerings in the last decade. Their commercial toilets are typical of what you’d expect to see in public restrooms and their residential toilets offer, elongated, round, dual flush, single flush, 1-piece, 2-piece, and comfort height.
The most options are on their website, but I prefer to buy on Amazon because I get free shipping. On Amazon the options are limited and I’ll share them below.
4 Best Mansfield Toilet Options
Mansfield Aegean Modern 1-Piece
If you’re looking for a stylish 1-piece toilet, the Mansfield Aegean is a solid choice. 1-piece toilets have better lines, appear smoother than 2-piece toilets and can be found in rounded or square styles.
The Aegean is rounded and will look great in an updated bathroom. It uses a single flush, 1.28 high efficiency flush and measures almost 17 inches which is close to a comfort height toilet (great for taller people).
I also like this toilet because it comes with a smart close toilet seat. Most toilets do not come with a seat and it’s $30-40 extra after buying the toilet.
Like other 1-piece toilets, the Mansfield Aegean comes at a premium. Check Amazon for their current price.
Mansfield Summit Dual Flush Toilet (2-piece)
If you’re looking for something more traditional, yet water-efficient, the Mansfield Summit is a good-looking toilet. Most people don’t want their toilet to attract attention and the traditional look works well to blend in with a bathroom.
With dual flush toilets, you save even more water than a standard toilet. Water savings means additional savings on your monthly water bill.
This dual flush toilet uses only 1.1 gallons per flush for liquid waste and 1.6 gallons per flush for solid waste. If you have an old 3.5 or 5-gallon toilet from the 1990’s or earlier, this toilet will pay for itself in savings in a year (not a bad investment).
The price is reasonable under $300 and compares well to other toilets from Toto and American Standard. I also like that it has an elongated bowl and taller profile which are both perfect for tall toilets.
Double check to make sure your “rough-in” is 12 inches and you’re good-to-go.
Mansfield Standard Toilet Alto (water efficient 2-piece)
The most basic Mansfield toilet is the Alto. It is a 2-piece toilet and uses a single flush, but that single flush uses only 1.6 gallons per flush.
The Alto will look good in older and more modern bathrooms and it will last decades (most toilets last 20-30 years). The price is similar to the dual flush, so I’d strongly consider the Summit toilet (mentioned above) before deciding on this model.
Mansfield Parts
Need a new fill valve, flapper, or lid? Mansfield also sells these individually on Amazon.
Old toilets will likely need to change the tank parts once throughout their lifetime. They are inexpensive and fit most other brands too.
Conclusion
Are Mansfield toilets good? Whether you’ve heard of them or not, Mansfield toilets have been around almost 100 years.
They are one of the major American companies alongside their competitors, American Standard and Toto. Mansfield is an American company and makes many of their toilets in Ohio and Texas, however, their parent company is based out of Colombia.
They offer a wide selection of toilets for commercial use and for households. Whether you want a 1-piece, 2-piece, tall, elongated, or dual flush toilet, Mansfield has an option that has you covered.
I like the completive prices of the toilets and I think the limited lifetime warranty is impressive.
I hope this article provides some insight to the Mansfield company and their toilets. They are certainly a good option if you’re looking for a new toilet. Best of luck with finding a toilet!
